Glaukos’s Glaukotene® is a powder of Red Marine Micro Algae Dunaliella Salina. Our Dunaliella salina contains a rich mixture of natural dietary carotenoids, including high quantities of antioxidant beta-carotene, a deep orange-red pigment and vast spectrum of other healthy phytonutrients.

Dunaliella salina
Dunaliella salina is one of nature’s most nutrient dense foods and natural medicines. It contains many of the anti-oxidants commonly found in fruit and vegetables. Known for its protection against a variety of health related conditions.

Dunaliella salina is the algal species found predominantly growing in brackish water and are highly halophilic in nature. Apart from major chlorophyll pigments (a and b), the algae is known for its high carotenoid content namely the β-carotenes. β-carotenes have high economic value including their usage as dietary supplements. They form the baseline of food chain serving as food for many other microbes. The carotenes obtained from this genus have high antioxidant properties owing to its importance in the pharma industry. Shape of the salina species primarily depends on the environmental conditions. Reproduction is done both sexually and asexually wherein the sexual reproduction involves the fusion of two equal gametes and asexual reproduction involves division of motile vegetative cells. Generally, this species exhibits a growth pattern for 30 days.
